    Kasiski test cracks Vigenère cipher

    The Vigenère cipher once had a reputation for being unbreakable, and for 300 years no one was able to shake this reputation. This changed in 1863 with the Kasiski test, which attacks the most vulnerable part of a cryptosystem – the key. We explain how the test works and reprogram it in Python.
